Privacy and data
This page explains what happens to the numbers you type into our calculators, what we count, and what a broker does under its own policy.
Calculators stay in your browser
The calculators on this site run in your browser. The position size, margin or pip values you enter are worked out on your own device and are never sent to a server, so we do not see them and cannot store them.
That matters for a trading site, because the numbers you type can reveal your account size and your risk. Keeping the arithmetic local means there is nothing for us to hold.
Retention, deletion, and how a policy change reaches you
Retention is short by design: analytics counts are kept only as long as needed to see which pages and calculators are used over a reporting period, and click records live with the affiliate network and broker under their retention rules, not ours. Nothing here is kept indefinitely for its own sake, and there is no archive of individual readers to keep. Calculator inputs are the shortest-lived of all, held in the page's memory for the session and discarded when you close or reload the tab, so in practice they are deleted the moment you leave the page.
Deletion happens through two mechanisms. Yours is clearing cookies and site data in the browser, which removes the local identifiers immediately. Ours is the routine expiry of aggregate records once they no longer serve a reporting purpose. If you want a specific confirmation, use the contact route published on the site and say what you are asking about; because no account exists, the answer will usually be that nothing identifying you is held. Broker-side records are deleted under the broker's schedule and its regulatory obligations, which we do not control.
Changes to this policy are announced on this page, with the current version always the one you are reading, and material changes are flagged at the top of the page rather than left for you to spot. We do not send policy emails, because we do not hold an email list. If a new category of data or a new third party is introduced, it is added here before or as it goes live, described in the same plain terms. Re-reading this page after a notice is the way to stay current, and no action is required from you.
Brokers set their own cookies
When you follow a link to a broker, that broker sets its own cookies and handles your data under its own privacy policy. We do not control that and cannot answer for it, so read the broker's policy before you open an account.
If you are comparing brokers, note which entity your account would be opened with, since the regulator position is this: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, and an FxPro entity holds an FSCA licence in South Africa — check which entity your own account is opened with.
Affiliate links, stated plainly and without a sales gloss
Some links to FxPro on this site are affiliate links, which means the site may receive a payment if you open an account through one of them. That is the commercial model, and it is stated here rather than buried. It does not change what a calculator outputs, because the formulas are fixed and the numbers you enter are yours. It also does not change the risk facts: gold trading at any leverage is high-risk, and no referral arrangement makes a losing position less likely. The reference price shown around 4275.0 is an illustration for working through the maths, not a recommendation.
The practical effect of an affiliate link is small and visible: the link carries a referral identifier so the broker can tell the visit came from here. That is the whole mechanism on our side. We do not receive your account number, your deposits, your trades or your statements from the broker, and we do not need them. Any rand amount you later fund by local card, bank transfer or e-wallet is handled by the broker under its own terms and its own privacy policy, which you should read before depositing.
Because the site earns from referrals, treat the content accordingly: check costs and conditions on the broker's own pages rather than relying on any summary here, and confirm which entity your account is actually opened with. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, and an FxPro entity holds an FSCA licence in South Africa, but the entity serving South Africa is FxPro Markets Direct Costa Rica Latam SRL, so the protections attached to your account depend on where it is opened. That check is yours to make and it is worth making.
Your rights over this data and the exact steps to use them
You can ask what data connected to your visit is held, ask for it to be corrected or erased, object to analytics or affiliate tracking, and withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time. Under South African law these rights flow from the Protection of Personal Information Act, and the practical route is simple: adjust your browser's cookie and site-data settings to refuse or clear the non-essential categories, and use the contact route published on this site for any request about data held. Because no account exists, most requests resolve to a confirmation that nothing identifying you is stored.
The fastest and most complete control is local, not a written request. Clearing cookies and site data for this domain removes the identifiers described in this policy, and blocking third-party cookies prevents new affiliate and analytics cookies being set as you browse. If you have already clicked a broker link, the affiliate record sits with the affiliate network and the broker, not with us, so erasure there is requested from them under their policies. For anything that does sit with us, a request describing the pages visited and roughly when is enough for us to look.
Two limits are worth knowing. We cannot delete records held by a broker, because we never receive them and have no access to that account. We also cannot undo a referral that has already been recorded, though we can stop new ones by honouring your cookie choice. If you are in South Africa and unhappy with how a request was handled, the Information Regulator is the body that oversees compliance with the Act; the contact details for reaching us first are published on this site.
Tracking that starts only when you click a broker link, and the analytics we choose not to run
Tracking begins only when you click a link to a broker, not while you read or calculate. At that moment the destination broker may receive the page you came from, a campaign or affiliate identifier in the link, your approximate location from your IP address, and standard device details such as browser and screen size. That is what lets a broker attribute a sign-up to this site. Nothing about your calculator inputs travels with the click, and simply loading a page here does not start that process.
The analytics this site runs are deliberately narrow: we look at which pages are opened and which links are followed in aggregate, not at who you are. We do not build profiles of individual readers, we do not record keystrokes or mouse movements, and we do not attempt to match a visitor across other websites. We also do not measure the rand amounts you type into a calculator, your broker account balance, or your trading results, because none of that reaches us in the first place.
The gap between those two positions is the point: aggregate page counts help decide which explanations to expand, while anything that would identify a person or reveal their trading is left uncollected. If you want to reduce even the aggregate signal, your browser's tracking-protection settings and a private window will limit what is sent. South African readers should also note that following a broker link puts you under that broker's own privacy terms, not this page's, from the moment the new site loads.
What the calculators send nowhere and what the site does keep
The calculators send nothing anywhere: every number you type into a gold position-size or margin field stays in your browser and is never transmitted to this site or to any broker. The arithmetic runs in JavaScript on your own device, so the reference price near 4275.0, your lot size, and the R amounts you enter exist only in your tab and vanish when you close it. What the site does keep is limited to ordinary server logs and any cookie consent choice you make, not your inputs.
The site keeps a record of your cookie choice and standard request logs that your browser sends to any website, such as the page requested and the time. Those logs do not contain the figures you typed into a calculator, because no calculator input is ever posted back to a server. There is no account, no saved profile, and no place on this site where a calculation is stored against your name or email address. If you clear your browser storage, the consent record goes with it.
Nothing on this site asks for your ID number, your broker login, your card details, or your bank account number, and no calculator field is designed to collect them. If a page ever appears to request those, treat it as suspect and close it, because the real calculators here only need instrument values such as XAU/USD, lot size in standard lots of 100 oz, and a pip value of 0.01. The distinction matters in South Africa, where a fake form can be used for fraud.
In short, the only lasting trace of a calculator session is what your own browser history and any downloaded file leave behind. The site itself holds no calculation history, so there is nothing for us to look up, export, or hand to a third party. That is deliberate: a margin figure based on your rand balance is your business, and a tool that quietly recorded it would be a liability rather than a help.
What we do count
We keep only aggregate traffic counts, such as how many visits a page received, so we know which pages are useful. These counts are not tied to you as an identifiable person and are not used to build a profile.
Your own preferences, such as a setting you chose, are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. They stay there until you clear them, and they are not a record we hold.
Which third parties see data and what they receive
Three kinds of third party can receive data connected to your visit: the analytics provider that counts page and calculator usage, the affiliate network that records a broker link click, and the broker itself once you arrive on its site. Each receives a limited slice. Analytics receives aggregate usage signals. The affiliate network receives the click and a referral identifier. The broker receives whatever your browser sends to any website, plus anything you choose to enter on its forms after you arrive. None of them receives a stored record of the figures you typed into a calculator here.
The broker is the party that matters most once you leave. From the moment its page loads, its own cookies, its own analytics and its own account-opening checks apply, including identity verification it is required to perform. Its privacy policy, not this page, governs that. FxPro operates across MT4, MT5, cTrader and FxPro Edge, and the entity behind your account determines which regulator's rules apply, so read the documents presented at sign-up rather than assuming they match the ones on a marketing page.
We do not sell personal data, and there is no list of readers to sell, because no reader list is built. We also do not pass calculator inputs to any third party, since those never leave the browser tab. If a third-party script is blocked by your browser or an extension, the site still functions: pages load, calculators run, and broker links open. The only loss is that a visit or a referral may go uncounted, which affects reporting rather than your access to the content.
What this site stores and what it never asks for
This site stores only what is needed to run the pages and to see which articles and calculators get used: no account, no trading details, no identity documents. You are not asked to register, to log in, or to hand over a broker password, a trading account number, or a copy of an ID document to read anything here. Anything you type into a calculator is handled inside the browser tab and is not submitted to us as a stored record. The only things that persist are ordinary technical data created by the browser and by analytics and affiliate services, described in the sections that follow.
The data that does exist falls into three buckets: technical data your browser sends with every page request, such as the page address, an approximate location derived from your connection, browser and device type, and the referring page; aggregated usage counts showing which pages and calculators are opened; and click records created when a broker link is followed. None of these identify you by name. We do not hold payment details, because nothing on the site is sold, and we do not build a profile of your trading history, your balances, or your positions.
Two practical consequences follow. First, there is no account to delete and no password to reset, because none exists. Second, if you clear your browser storage and cookies, you remove the local traces described here, and nothing further is needed from us. South African readers should treat this site as a reading and calculation tool, not as a service that holds their money or their personal file. Funding a broker account with rands by local card, bank transfer or e-wallet happens entirely on the broker's own site, under the broker's own privacy terms, not ours.
The cookie types this site sets and what each one is doing
Cookies on this site fall into three functional groups: those needed for the page to load and behave correctly, those that measure aggregate usage, and those set by affiliate partners when a broker link is clicked. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and remember basic preferences for the session; without them pages can misbehave. Analytics cookies count visits and tell us which calculators and guides are opened, in aggregate. Affiliate cookies are placed only after you follow a broker link, and they exist to credit the referral rather than to describe you.
The distinction that matters for you is consent and control. Necessary cookies are part of serving the page. Analytics and affiliate cookies are the ones you can refuse or remove in your browser settings, and the site continues to work if you do. Blocking affiliate cookies does not stop you opening a broker's site or using any calculator here; it only means a referral may not be attributed. Blocking analytics cookies means your visit is not counted, which affects our numbers but not your experience of the page.
No cookie here is used to store your trading positions, your rand amounts, or anything you type into a margin or pip calculator. Those inputs live in the page's memory for the session and are discarded when you close or reload the tab. If you want a clean slate, clearing cookies and site data for this domain removes everything described in this section and nothing else on your device. Your browser's own settings, not a form on this site, are where that is done.
Affiliate tracking: what is recorded when you click a broker link
When you click a broker link on this site, the broker may set a cookie on your browser that records that the visit came from here. That cookie typically contains an identifier for this site, not your personal details. The broker uses it to attribute any account you later open to this site, which is how the site earns a commission. The tracking is handled by the broker or its affiliate network, not by this site, and the cookie is set only after you click the link.
The affiliate cookie does not contain your name, email, or trading account number. It records that a click came from a specific source, usually with a timestamp and a site identifier. If you subsequently open an account with that broker, the broker may link the click to your account for commission purposes. This site does not receive your personal data from the broker; it only receives aggregated confirmation that a referral occurred, sometimes with a pseudonymous identifier.
You can avoid affiliate tracking by not clicking broker links, or by clearing cookies after visiting. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings will also prevent most affiliate cookies from being set. The site does not require you to click any broker link to use the calculators or read the content. If you do click, the broker's own privacy policy governs what it does with the tracking data, and you should read it before opening an account.
Children and this site
This site is not directed at children under 18 and does not knowingly collect any data from them. Trading gold (XAU/USD) with leverage is a high-risk activity intended for adults who can bear the possibility of losses. If you are under 18, you should not use the broker links or open a trading account. The site does not ask for age verification because it does not offer accounts or collect personal information from any visitor.
No part of the site is designed to appeal to children, and there are no games, contests, or features that collect personal details. The calculators are educational tools for adults. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal data to the site via email, they can contact us and we will delete that email from our inbox. The site does not use tracking that would identify a child's age or build a profile of a minor.
Because the site does not require registration and does not ask for personal details, there is no age-gate. The responsibility for supervising internet use by minors rests with parents and guardians. The broker links lead to services that require users to be at least 18 and to pass the broker's own verification. This site does not knowingly market to minors and does not tailor content to them. If you are a minor, please leave the site and speak to a trusted adult about any financial questions.
